The Raynox DCR-250 is a +9 diopter, which means the focus distance is 1/9th of a meter from the front of the lens (i.e. about 11cm, or 4 1/3 inches). That's irrespective of the "host lens"'s focal length, BTW.

Does anyone else own this Raynox dcr-250? Any more photos we can look at taken with it?
It looks like something I'd be interested in, although they're not $40 here in Canada - more like $80.

You have to use closeup lens.
For example this
I just picked these up today from my local camera store ... and have been having a play around the garden with them ... some shots come out good ... others are average though .... it coems down to ambient light at the time though ... and I am only using them on my 18-55mm kit lens as well ... nothing special really.

This is indeed impressive!! A couple of question:

1) Have you tried the Canon 500D with the DA 18-55 and 50-200?

2) Can you post some pic using the 250D and DA 18-55?

3) How far are you standing away from this shot? What is the Exif data?

4) Any problems of AF and setting aperture?

Thankx, Raider!
I don't know exaclty the distance (May 2007!!!), but something about 100mm. Among the data:
- focal length 200 mm
- shuter speed 1/250
- aperture 8.0 (aperture priority automaic exposure)
- multi segment metering
- 400 ISO
- single autofocus mode
- SR yes
I didn't tried 500D.
I don't have macros taken with 18-55 but you can find in my gallery some shots taken with Rikenon 50 1.7 with 250D over it.

I think all your pic in your gallery look good!

I might just buy the canon 250D closeup lens but I am still debating if I should save the money up to buy a real macro is hard to make a decision for me now

Another fascinating thread! I thought I was nuts taking photos of flowers with the DA 50-200 at 200mm zoom. So I'm not alone...

My wife has a set of three close up lenses from her film SLR days. I will try them out on the two kit lenses.
