Metering on the Lensbaby Composer?

I'm curious how the metering on the Lensbabys work since the aperture is mostly fixed.

Do you just shoot in aperture priority mode and match the approximate aperture ring you've installed in the lensbaby?

I don't have a Lensbaby but I think I understand the issue. Your choices are Av or M. (Or B, if you're shooting dark and long). Ira would say, M every time. Someone else would say, Av every time. I'd say, whatever works. Av probably gives you less to worry about as you shoot.

NOTE: A similar issue arises with full-circle fisheye lenses, or such adapters on other lenses. Matrix or weighted metering might include the black margins, throwing off the exposure in the lit circle. I need to adjust EV then. You may need to do the same if you use your Lensbaby to achieve vignetting.

I have a mirror lens that is fixed f/8. I use it in manual with the green button to set the shutter speed. Check the histogram and the LCD to raise or lower the EV if needed.

I found the best way with Lensbabies is to shoot in manual and bracket widely. No information is being sent from this lens to the camera so its just like using a K or M series lens. And as reeftool said use the histogram.
These lenses are great fun and I have had many lost days as I got totally engrossed with them.
