Mir 1 - Grand Prix Brussels 1958

I'm sure you've all at one time or another, wondered about clicking that Buy-It-Now on that russian made lens.

I did and it was a great decision. For about $25US + $12 shipping, I got a Mir-1 (M42 Mount). Its a moderate wide 37mm f2.8. (Looks more like a 55.5mm lens on dslr)

The design is quite old with the aperture ring at the very top followed by the aperture actuation ring ("close - open") and then lastly, the focus ring.

Here it was mounted on my Mz-M via an M42 to K mount adapter ring.

Its from the Industrial Amalgamation Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Factory in Zagorsk. (Note the factory logo on the lens.)

I was going to take some more sample shots but it just rained so I'll head out for more photos another time. Here's a few I took yesterday.

Taken with GX-1L at f2.8

Also taken at f2.8. Sorry about the confusing background. Its not really doing the 10 aperture blades justice.

Being a Zeiss derivative, I not too surprised. The lens is fairly sharp at the center wide open and gets even better as you stop down. Its quite contrasty too!

Here's two examples at f8.

If you guys have any questions I didn't cover, feel free to ask!
