want to get a teleconverter.

I would like to buy a teleconverter for my K-x & K20D, but I have to convince my wife.Is there somewhere I can show her pictures of a teleconverter in use?

Here is a picture taken with a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 and a Sigma 1.4x Teleconverter. Note the bird top right.

Here is a 100% crop.

If this doesn't convince her then get a new wife.

Hey, I apologize if my/our joke(s) offended you, but I didn't think they were that bad.

Also, please remember that you gave us the lead-in lines by saying you had to convince your wife to buy a TC. On a scale of cost, that's pretty low down there.

We got guys here who had to pull their kids out of college when the the DA 15 came out.

This is why there can never be world peace.

There are people who understand my sense of humor in Croatia, Poland, Australia, Thailand, Romania, Belarus, England, France, and dozens of other countries.

But in certain sections of Canada and the southern and midwest U.S., I always get in trouble.

what lenses do you have.

Note that while sigma makes some very good TCs they only work with a select few sigma and pentax lenses because the front element of the TC projects 10-12 mm into the rear of the lens.

the two shots below were taken using a sigma APO 70-200F2.8 EX and sigma 2x TC
the first is a K10D at ISO 1600 and is cropped to about 10% of the frame

the next is a full frame right out of the camera

the next 2 are using an SMC 300 F4 and pentax SMC-F 1.7x AF TC
first with *istD and flash. The shot is only cropped about 10%

second hand held with K7 at 1/40th This cropped and displayed at 100% resolution

Both TCs are very good when mated to a good lens. The pentax TC is a little more versitile since it can be used with almost any lens, but on an AF lens, the lens focusing is disabled, you need to manually focus close then the AF element in the TC does the rest.

Don't get a 2X TC. You'll lose autofocus for sure, and manual focus will be difficult because the viewfinder will be very dim. More importantly, IQ will be disappointing.

You may get away with a 1.4X TC. But autofocus will be iffy at the long end of the lenses.

Frankly, I'd NOT use a TC of any kind with any of the lenses you mentioned.
