the F/FA 1.7 is the 3rd best 50mm lens that I like. I made the K55/1.8 ranked 2nd only because I prefer the overall rendering of it over the 1.7. as to sharpness, I can't say anything bad about the 1.7. it owns the sharpness category (non-macro wise).
