Congratulations

I read the forum reviews on this lens and I believe you got yourself a bargain

From the reviews, it's a great lens

Can't wait for you to post some pictures from it

It looks just a little bit heavy, I hope you're used to carrying lenses that big around.

I believe you will have a lot of problem concealing that one from the missus.

awesome buy..

but there seems to be this glaring gap between 50 and 300mm range... it's not exactly covered :P

although... after a purchase like that, i have a feeling you're not exactly thinking of buying another lens right now :P

I never understood the idea of "having it all covered". are you going to be carying around all of your lenses all the time? are you expecting to have a lens that will cover something you dont even know if you will ever shoot? are there any specific reasons you have such a lens? dont get me wrong, im happy for you, and it looks like a hell of a lens. I just never understood this. I mostly use my cameras for personal use, but also as a local freelance photojournalist, and I have never found myself in a position of needing a set of lenses that "cover everything" maybe im fortunate in that respect, but 9 times out of 10, regardless of what im shooting, it can be done with just one or two lenses. 55mm about 90% of the time.

I would think that I would spend more time searching for lenses for 'possible' photographic needs than I would actually just taking pictures, if I were to attempt to cover everything from wide angle to super-telephoto. maybe I just dont have enough variables in my photography?

^ignore all that. enjoy your lens! certainly more than I could afford to spend.
