I was watching an eBay auction today for a used one, it went for $830 or so. So is the lucky recipient on here?

Instead, 47th Street Photo and UPS tells me there's one on the way. Given that shipping weight is shown as one pound, we'll see what really arrives. Perhaps lens cleaning kit (to add to my collection) and an IOU for a wonderful but unobtainable lens? I'll post again upon delivery - or lack thereof.

It's here. I'm not sure of the actual weight but it feels about like a 1937 Buick.

Slow to focus (on my K-X) w/o HSM. I'll try tonight on a K-7. It may have a more powerful motor and there's a lot of glass to push around!

My Sig EX 100-300 f4 APO DG is so quiet and fast when it focuses that it can't be beat. It's probably one of the best long zoom lenses ever made.
They will have to pry mine from my cold dead hands.

Slow to focus?, it is the fastest focusing lens both on my K10D and the K-7, but then again I don't have any SDM lenses.

P.S: make sure the barrel is pulled to reveal AF, if it is in the MF then I think it still will AF (I could be wrong) but much slower.

Thanks ... I'll check that in an hour or so. It may be the answer because that sucker sometimes took 1-3 seconds to get to focus. I was having a lot of buyer's remorse about 20 hours ago ....

Thanks for the tip, pcarfan. That was precisely the problem. Focus is fast and easy, even in indoor light. Good choice!
