Someone got an attack of the sillies bidding for this Tak. Seen similar prices for the same lens here on occassion which I blame more on excessive competitiveness during an auction.

I've been noticing some rather silly pricing on nearly everything on Ebay recently. Those lenses were very good but not worth that price. I'm waiting until the economy tanks again, probably late summer or fall, for the real deals.

Hey, just look at how great your Citigroup stock is doing. About 7 billion shares bought at $3.25, right at this minute $4.90 - that's $4.5 billion right there.

Ohhh...

You have the Mamiya 55 that I've been lusting after.

Had that lens in 1973.

Not bad, I'm about to put my SMC takumar 50mm f1.4 on Ebay soon...

I know that seller too, bought a few things from him and he's kind of a jerk.

Well according to Ebay, I should be able to get $1,000,000 for my M 50mm 1.7 right? I'm gonna start a bidding war, any buyers?

It's hard to determine what M42 lenses are in total.

I built an M42 kit from scratch, for about $700

the kit is as follows

24mm f2.5 adaptall II with M42 adaptor
28mm Vivitar F2.5
35mm SMC Tak F2
50mm Super Tak F1.4
50mm SMC Tak F4 macro
58mm F2 Helios 44
85mm F1.9 Super Tak
135mm F3.5 SMC Tak (LBA got me, found it for a very low price in a second hand store)
135mm F2.8 Tele Lentar Preset (16 blade aperture)
200 mm F3.5 Takumar Preset (18 blade Aperture)
set of 3 pentax extension tubes
1 focusing helix (variable 15mm - 30mm extension tube)
1 tamron mlti coated 2x TC
1 soligor 2x TC
1 origonal pentax M42-K adaptor

I have not ever seen any of my lenses for less than about 25% more than I paid individually, some I see go regularly for 3-5 times what I paid.

I don't feel I over paid or under paid, but I did get some excellent lenses in the process.

I am very happy with my collection, although I still might like a ~100mm lens, as well as something wider, but both will be at my price.

Along the way, I made one mistake, I have an XR rikenon 135 F2.8 which sufers from reflection off the film plane. it was a $35 experiment.

considering the value of the 85, the average price for all the other lenses is about $50 per lens, Some I paid more some much less.

There were 34 bids that were made mostly by 3 people from about $15 on. It could have been one of those competition things or a combination of that an inexperience. Furthermore, to be considered mint, it would need to be in better shape, have better images of it AND have the box and papers etc.
