I have the DA 70/2.4 and find it to be an excellent portrait lens. Should you opt for this lens I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I just got a DA* 16~50 last week and I think they make a great combination.

what about the weight of the 50-135? is it a bother?
I have the Sigma 70-200 and size and weigh is too much for me to carry around

The Sigma is 2" longer than the Pentax (7.3" vs. 5.3") and twice as heavy (3 lbs vs. 1.5 lbs).

That said, the Pentax is a substantial lens; built like a tank. I don't find it a bother to carry around but that's me...

If money is not an issue, I would cosider Zeiss 85/f1.8. Sure, a tad longer than 70 and 77, but the intended use probably pretty close.

The 50-135 is just an amazing lens, the bokeh and sharpness are outstanding.

montman, I love those last two shots. Really nice compositions--and the bokeh is wonderful, especially how it works in the image of the wasp (hornet?) nest.

Photographs from "FA Limited Club" thread convinced me and I've just ordered FA 77.

One day I'll buy 50-135 because I like versatility provided by zooms and I do need weather sealing. Or, better, wait for Photokina and see what new lenses will be presented there.. 50-135 II maybe

Thankyou Grey Goat!
Like other have said... The 50-135 is like a prime lens the zooms. It's amazing.

Disya2- Congrats on your decision to get the FA77. Some day... Some day... I will own one. Kind want to see what the new Sigma 85 1.4 looks like first.
