Thanks for the tips! I have tried it the other day but it wasn't as sunny and peaceful as I was expecting. I did get some shots and on one of them I nailed the Helios/Biotar siganture effect but I am not very please with the composition. The rest of the shots are lame because I am yet to figure out how to nail the right depth of field, most of the shots end up with distracting out of focus areas and the detail I meant to capture is mostly blurred.

Helios 44 - on the optical system is a six-lens aperture and high-aperture anastigmatic type "Planar". Here are the helios lens such as the gelios 44 - the most talked Soviet lens and most charismatic Soviet portret lens. Helios 44m lens focal length of 58 mm and relative aperture 2.0 is often used as a standard lens for the camera "Zenit-E." Now we offer these gelios 44 lenses for all popular DSLR cameras.

nice stuff all.

I don't spend near enough time with my Helios lenses but I did take out the Helios 44M-7 for this shot of my new guitar:

Benedetto

I also shot a few using my FA43 Limited and in the pixel peeping, this sucker was noticeably sharper although it really lacked the contrast and color of the FA limited.

Wonderful photos everybody!
I'm just about to pull an Helios 44K-4MC, made in 1993 according to seller, but not sure about the difference it might have with the 44-2
I want that centre sharpness and swirly bokeh!
Also it is not just 20$..but it's already for K mount and MC.
It seems to be in very nice condition...and it could be my very first lens to use
in the upcoming K-5 IIs.
I'll appreciate any comments.
cheers.

Same optical design (based on pre-WWII Zeiss Biotar) as the 44-2, but with different body, k-mount, automatic diaphragm, fewer aperture blades, and multicoating. You can confirm the build year by the first two digits of the serial number. Use it on your K-5 IIs in the same manner as any other non-A -contact k-mount lense (M mode, green button metering).

Thank you Steve, yes the serial code starts with 93, I've noticed that
from the images the seller provided. Not sure about the number of blades (can't see it in the pics)
but there should be 6 blades. I know that the resolution is a bit lower than the 44K-7 but
I think it would be pretty good still.
I'm going to get this lens.
cheers,
sebastian

Thank you kcobain1992, I've started looking again.
What an epic FAIL.
Is there a great difference between the MC and non MC lenses?
(44-4K and MC 44-4K)
cheers,
sebastian
