Yes, it does. I was also very surprised.

Look at moscowStore (eBay)

Here are two examples: 8-blade Helios 44M-7 and 6-blade Helios 44M-7
The 8-blade looks suspiciously like an early 44M: manufactured in 1977, M-A switch, and 8-blade aperture. I think someone switched the faceplate. In fact, it looks exactly like my 44M except it is a year younger.

All the helios 44s are fun to use, however. I look forward to digging out my copies when (and if) spring ever arrives.

Cheers,
Lou

I was thinking that the face plate did not match the lens' body ... not the form of a later Helios, like the 44-6's that I have.

And the lens body really looks more like a 44M series era to me ...

The first link is a Helios 44M with a transplanted (fake) face ring. The second appears to be a Helios 44M-4 also with a fake face ring. The reason I say fake is because even the Soviets/Russians aren't that sloppy. The body on a true 44M-7 is different than either of the linked lenses. Serial numbers are also wrong. No 44M-7 has a serial number lower than 90xxxxxx.

The 44M-7 is often faked due to its "better" reputation and relative rarity outside of the Russia and the former Soviet states.
