the Pentax OEM adapter - people grouse about its cost but it is also the one least likely to cause any problems...
Hello,
My 44K-4 will be here in a few weeks. So, I'm wondering about the Pentax mount on this lens. Does it go on easily, and smoothly?
Thank you very much.

Excellent. BTW, I love your pictures of your farm. I wished there were more. Like of your dogs and chickens, and whatever crops you have. Tractors, too.

Yeah, my 44k-4 mounts and unmounts easily. One of the reasons I prefer it to the 44-2.

I've been shooting with it the past couple of days. The light this time of year and bright leaves work well for the Helios swirl.

Thank you, Matt, that's good to know. I kind of feel the same way. I did pick up a OEM converter from the Marketplace, so I'm ready if I decide to get another one. May be a 2, or a 7.

Cross posted from the prime thread, but I rarely take out this lens so I feel like it'd be a sin if I don't post it here too.

This is the 44-2 variant. The focus is beginning to get real stiff on my copy. Any advice?

I think it´s not hard in this lens to open and relube, but given the prices they sell for I´d probably not bother and get another copy.

I'm very much a person that likes to repair things that are broken. Would love a guide on how to open this badboi up.

Then, just Google. There are many tutorials out there. Good luck!

The 44-2 is fairly easy to open up and replace the grease. I changed the lubricant on my 50A 1.4, and 44k-4, both now work flawlessly. Just need some small screwdrivers, a tube of lubricant, and some patience.

While owning a 44M-4, I saw a clean 44K-4 and went for it for the ease of the mount. Here's the first semi-decent shot (blame the person behind the glass) I got from the Russian:
