Used lens, What the best?

I have the chance to bid on these 3 lens. I believe these are pretty good lenses base on review on the forum and others

1)Sigma Lens 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro for Pentax
2)
SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG Macro for Pentax with filter
3)
Sigma 105 F2.8 DG EX Macro for Pentax
What do you think of these?

The Sigma 17-70mm is the best and sharpest lens that I have ever used. You probably won't like the Sigma 24-70mm because you lose the wide angle up to 24mm and you get an 82mm filter size and an enormous lens overall. The Sigma 105mm is just too limiting, and the Sigma 17-70mm has a 1:2.9 macro which was a very good job. I would definitely say go with the Sigma 17-70mm and forget about the rest of them, it's the cheapest out of all of them too.

OK I see but for the price the UV filter and the Polarising filter are included
Total cost about $450

For sure I am going after the 17-70

I have the 105mm and I carry it around with me with my kit everywhere. If you are looking for a dedicated macro lens this is one of the best available at this focal length. It also makes for a great telephoto lens as well.

Also, this lens can be had for about 480USD new from reputable retailers. So if your used price is cheaper than that I would try ti inspect the lens and make sure all is in working order and goood condition.

Be careful with warranties on used lenses. They are usually only valid for the Original owners. I would contact Sigma and see if the warranty is transferable. That is true of any product, at least in the USA.Third party Extended warranties can usually be transferred but it must be done right away. If this is an ebay purchase (and possibly others) I think you can get a Square Trade warranty. I am not trying to discourage you from buying a used lens but if you are doing so based on warranty time remaining, keep the above in mind. Enjoy your new Macro lens..

Ok
I bought the Sigma Lens 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro for Pentax at a fair price. This lens is in great shape. I am happy about that purchase. Now I am just waiting to pick up the Sigma 105.
I still have to buy the K-X

And I finally got the Sigma105mm f2.8. The Sigma warranty in Canada is 10 years on that lens and was transferrable

congrats! Check out my flickr link in my signature to see shots taken with the lens. Its my workhorse.

Im not tied to it the same way I am with the M 85mm/M50mm and If I had the money I'd replace it with the sigma 180mm/Pentax 200mm but thats not the lenses fault. Its a perfect lens opticall IMO.... I honestly don't think it could be improved whatsoever.

In my opinion, the 17-70 is one of the last lenses I would own. Yeah, the Sigma or Pentax 17-70 is a little better and a little wider focal range than the 18-55 kit lens, however, you get the kit lens for virtually free and it is not a bad lens by any means. I would have probably gone for a K-7 with the WR 18-55 for $950 total or a K-x with 18-55 with money left over for the 105mm macro (which is a great lens by the way) if you are definitely going to be shooting a lot of macro shots (no real reason to buy a dedicated macro lens if you are not) and/or a telephoto zoom lens to expand your shooting range.

There is definitely a reason that they package the 18-55 and 55-300mm together in the k-x kit. Most new DSLR owners will want the reach of a 200-300mm zoom lens and something like the 55-300mm lens will be the first thing they want to buy if they don't spring for it in the kit originally. To me, something like that would generally suit you better than a dedicated macro lens or a kit lens replacement.

Regardless, congratulations on getting a K-x. It is a great camera. I own one and love it quite a lot. I am sure you will too!
