Sigma 85mm f1.4...wanyone else waiting eagerly?

This looks like one lens i can use.

F1.4 up to crop sensor 128mm and with x2 tele i get a 256mm range. It definitely will cut down the lenses i need to bring.

do you guys things it will be worth the cash?

I cant say unless I know what it will cost. if its more than the zeiss 85mm ZK, id sooner forgo the HSM AF and other perks and get the zeiss. but then im not really looking for an 85. of course, id sooner buy a takumar before either of these.

I love Sigma lenses, but I don't see this replacing my 77ltd (which I love too dearly).

I applaud Sigma for making this though. I'm betting it will be a stellar lens.

Buy a Stigma lens?
Not likely.

Yes

yes, I'm anxiously awaiting to hear reviews on this version for Pentax.

If the image quality is high, I can admit to wanting an AF 85mm 1.4 for the longest and will probably save up for one. I picked up a Rokinon manual 85mm 1.4, and I enjoy it, but will definitely have an appreciation for AF, and from what I read; in lens image stabilization. It'll be the first time I've put one on a Pentax, so more interesting questions around the effectiveness of In lens vs. camera stabilization can be approached.

My prediction is that it'll sharpen up around 2.8, have so so A/F, and not great color rendition. But I'd love to find out I was too pessimistic.

Yes, I am waiting for the lens because I want a fast, AF portrait lens. There is no reason to doubt this lens will be anything less than excellent--the main question is how much for 85 1.4 & AF? We will soon find out.

Not really, my next lens will be the Voightlander 58 1.4. I don't need an 85mm right now.

I love Sigma lenses too. I doubt I will get this one and I am surprised it took them this long to make one.

Since I have the FA 77mm f1.8 ltd, it is unlikely. I would like to try one out just because. If I were to get redundant in this area, I would probably look at the DA 70mm. I'm curious to see what the price of this Sigma is going to be. They better not price themselves too close the the Zeiss ZK or they will take it on the chin.

I stand corrected, it's not and OS lens. Either way, if the price & performance is right, I'll be in for one. Just wish they'd hurry up with pricing and availability already. Would love to hear a review by now.

One shop in Switzerland has a price of about 1200 SWF, which would result in a German street price of about 900-1000 Euro. No other price info yet.

I expect this lens to be very good.

There is the rumor that Sigma came out a little early with the info on this lens because Nikon wants to announce a new 85 soon.

Any idea in US$ this lens will debut for? If it's around 800-1000...I'll stick with a manual lens from Pentax which is probably better overall anyway.
