Important BF issue on DA 12-24mm: what to do?

I recently purchased a DA 12-24 from J&R, an american store, and I live in Canada. When I tested it, it soon became obvious the lens suffers from an important back focus problem. In addition, the lens won't focus at infinity. Apparently, these two problems are related. Before returning the lens, I decided to test my other lens to see if my K10D might be suffering from a "Af drift". All my other lens are either perfect or prenset a negligeable back focus. Nothing to worry about. Thus, I am now wondering if I should exchange it for a new sample or just go for another WA lens such as the DA 15 Ltd. Anybody exerienced a similar problem in the past? What did you do? Thaks in advance for your advices.

I would send it to Pentax for service or J&R if they will exchange it. It is a nice lens.

I agree I would send it back immediately so that Pentax can repair it. It really is a great lens and it does perform very well when it is in good working order. However, I do find this frustrating as this is a problem that should have been discovered at the factory and not by the consumer.
