How does that fit on a Pentax? Or does it not?

No one that's ever used Mamiya glass laughs at it. I have an SX series 28mm that isn't usable on my Pentax bodies without a special m42 adapter to hold the auto aperture pin since they lack the A-M switch but it is one of the best 28mm lenses I have handled personally.

Blue , y'know what the problem here is? Everytime we (Imean as a group) post something about a cool old lens we drive the price up on ebay .

Macro-Takumar 1:4/50 preset 1:1

doesn't get much sharper than this I think. it always blows me away, even wide open.
+1 Yes indeed. All of the M42 Macro-Takumar 4/50 versions have superb resolution. However, if by "sharpest" is meant "highest contrast" my vote goes to the M42 S-M-C Macro-Takumar 4/100, also a very high resolution lens.

Ah, I didn't know that Mamiya lenses came with a M42 mount. Thanks.

Like Blue said the later ones require modification to the lens or adaptor because there is no A/M switch , but the glass is super.

Yes, the FA*200 crop does look sharper but here both shots were taken at the same subject distance. ie- the FA*200 had a 1.45x magnification advantage.

Had I compensated for the focal length difference (by moving closer with the A*135), the A*135 crop would've looked much better.

The fact that the A*135 comes out looking so close to the FA*200 in this test, despite the magnification disadvantage, says a lot about the A*135 I think.
Here I moved closer with the A*135 to give the same approximate magnification as the FA*200 (click to enlarge). There's a bit of camera shake in the A*135 crop, but the resolving advantage should be easy to see.

mind you as you increase crop further, the resolving power of the 135 will lose out evidently. it maybe ok at certain crop magnification such as this example, but further out, it would start to deteriorate. the difference between focal length resolving power is undeniable as well. but for a 135mm, it is one excellent lens. I'm not sure though if it's slower counterparts (2.5, 2.8, 3.5) would show the same resolving power at such cropped magnification.

I gotta go with my DA 40mm ltd on this one, although I don't own a whole lot of glass so it's not really a stiff competition for me.
