Did you make a crop on this pic?

I tried to do macro-like photo (of an orchid too ) with my 21 but due to the 'wide' angle and the not-so-short minimal focus distance, I couldnt get nice result as yours.
Yes, I cropped some, but not a ton.

I don't feel that I need the DA 40, because even though it's not as well made, the F50 f1,7 is an amazing lens in its own right, and very light and small too. The 70 (or, why not 77) are too expensive for me, and not really needed right now. The few times I need 70 mm I use the Siggy. I'm not doing enough close portraiture to warrant using a 70 mm lens.

I got the 21 because the FOV of the 50 is too narrow sometimes, and I do a lot of low light without flash or tripod. You can always improve a kit, but now that I know how to use the 100-300, I believe I've got all important bases covered.
Need? Need??!!?!? Who's talking about "need"?

At this point, I'm just collecting. I really like the results, but I do have a lot of overlap or similar capability. I sold the 77Ltd (back when it was much cheaper, unfortunately) mainly because I was using the 50-135 so much I didn't use the 77 enough. Since I still have the 50-135, there's no real justification for me getting the DA70 now, except for "want".

Oh, and I'll finally be able to take great photos, instead of just snapshots.

I'd be interested to see how it copes with architecture type shots.

I had only recently found out that the DA* 16-50 ain't so clever for this type of picture at 16mm due to the pincushion distortion, so now I'm looking for a wide prime.
But the 16-50 at 21 mm will have minimal distortion as well. If you really want improvement in your 16-50, get a K7 or, either a DA 14 or DA 15. You will find that the lens correction feature on the K7 makes it a new lens and much more useable at wide angles.

Well, my budget forces me to take into account things like "need". Wish that I could be a collector too. If I did win the lottery, I have big plans about having a room dedicated to photogrpahy, with a nice display of all Pentax lenses ever made...
