What DA* ZOOM's would you like PENTAX to make?

DA* 8-16 mm F3.5 FISHEYE (49 mm rear filter)

DA* 11-24 mm F4 (77 mm front filter)

DA* 24-60 mm F4 (67 mm front filter)

DA* 250-500 mm F 4.5 (49 mm rear filter)

DA* 11-16 mm F 2.8 (77 mm front filter)

DA* 135-400 mm F 4.5-5.6 (77 mm front filter)

All with WS & SDM

We already have.

DA* 16-50 mm F 2.8

DA* 50-135 mm F2.8

DA* 60-250 mm F4

Definitely more choices on the long end but the price would probably be ridiculous!!

That DA* 24-60 would be nice if it had a modest macro or close-focusing ability; I'm thinking 1:2 or thereabouts. It would make a nice portrait lens with a versatile range.

And, I wouldn't be true to my wishful thinking nature if I didn't (again) mention my desire to see either news on improvements or a replacement to the 50-135. It's popular, but out of stock!

Going through the list Adrian, they'd all be nice to have, but not really all that necessary - other than something in the 400-500mm range, which doesn't have to be a DA*. A DA* 1.4/1.5x TC would be handy to have for the longer focal lengths, though.

Don't forget that we have all the DA ltds that cover important focal lengths as well as having the DA* 55. All I could ask for is a faster, more reliable and robust focusing mechanism.

They already make such zooms in the focal length ranges I like. But I'll never buy one until I'm confident the SDM complaints have been resolved, period.

Even Canon USM have problems.. SDM needs to be reworked. But when you have electronics there will be a fail rate..

A DA*18-250mm or a DA18-250mm WR.

The DA18-250mm is a grest lense but it is discontinued. Since the choice of good 18-250mm lenses for Pentax is very limited: 2nd hand Tamron/Pentax 18-250mm or the pricy Sigma 18-250mm OS HSM.

Many outdoor Pentaxians would low a WR 18-250mm lens.

The 24-60mm seems like a really good idea at least in theory since to have a constant aperture and weather sealing it wouldn't really need to be that large (Sigma got the constant aperture anyways) and it is in a great spot to have a really sharp lens fit into. I think that would be a great idea for Pentax to do.

Just slightly smaller than DA* 50-250 f2.8.

Cheers, Mike.

DA* 80-400/4-5.6

That would be my top priority, if they get the IQ right. Should be a good balance between reach/speed/money.

Otherwise, there need to be longer lenses, but mostly primes, I think (400/4, 600/5.6)

Well my first suggestion would be "a rebuild of the entire current range without SDM", but where's the fun in that?

DA*11-16mm f2.8

DA*70-200mm f2.8 (hey, the 18-250 is a rebadged Tamron and the Tammy 70-200 is supposedly sharper than the Sigma but with inferior AF)

I'm thinking either the DA* 250-500 f/4.5 as well as the 8-16 fisheye.
