Help with adapters please

At the Photographic Historical Society of New England shows in Wakefield, Ma last Saturday I bought a Polaris auto zoom 55-300mm 1:4.5 with an 86mm filter, the lens looked very nice but weighs a ton. The dealer said the lens was setup for Pentax, it had what looked like a t mount with m42 threads. When I got it home
I tried an m42 adapter but the adapter was not wide enough to fit on to the threads. So I took the t mount off.
No big deal because I have two t mounts to Ks but these would not fit, one was
To small to fit over the top the other did tightly but did not go far enough so that the screws fit Into the channels.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe

Sounds like it was set up for a Miranda thread mount.

44mm by 1mm thread pitch.

these cameras hada 41 mm regester distance meaning it may not focus to infinity woithout removal of part of the adaptor.
