Primes to replace DA* 16-50mm

I've found myself really only using the DA*16-50 racked out at either extreme of it's focal lengths.

I've also found that my wide shots don't fill the frame so I suppose I don't need anything quite as wide as 16mm. Ideally I'd like to replace it with one fairly wide prime (Thinking 20mm-30mm) who's IQ would make the 16-50 blush however I'm not adverse to replacing it with two primes if it'll best compliment my other two lenses.

I currently have in addition to the 16-50 the DA* 55 f/1.4 and the DA* 200 f/2.8. I only want to have a four lens kit and I only want the best of the best.

So, this has me thinking the FA 31mm Limited followed by the DA 15mm Limited.

In terms of IQ/sharpness will these two be on par / better than my DA* 55 and 200 and better than my 16-50?

Exactly what I was thinking before I finished reading your post. The 4 lenses would make a very fine kit. Though, the FA35 and DA35 are no slouch lenses but not quite as special as the 31mm Ltd.

You say you want something not quite as wide as 16mm, then you suggest the 15mm? What about the 21mm instead?

At the wide end, the 16-50mm has quite a lot of barrel distortion, and the flare resistance is poor as well, so the primes will definitely perform better in that regard. In terms of sharpness, I don't believe the difference is very large.

The 31mm and 55mm are obviously excellent choices for the rest of the range.

If you don't need/want anything as wide as 16 then I can't see you liking DA15.
I'd suggest either DA21 or FA20/2.8. Both very well regarded and neither is really big.
For the mid range you can't beat 31ltd and you already have DA*55.
21-31-55 would one terrific line up IMO

I'd almost say consider the DA 21 & DA 40 as a compliment to your 55 & 200. Those 2 lenses are compact enough you could carry them around pretty much all the time anyway...
