lba + birthday = sigma 100-300 f:4 ex dg apo

Last saturday I had a terrible attack of lba, but then I got the go from my lovely wife to get myself a small lens.

It was in stock in a shop a good 140km from where I live, and after a short drive I was home with my new toy.

The only problems since then
  • the weather
  • work (ok it pays for this lens but to much is to much)
This evening was the first time I could try the lens in descent weather.

I know I'm going to like this lens very much.

Some shots
Oh yes C&C is always welcome.

Ronny

first shot is without any processing, just cropped, not resized

0.002 sec (1/500) - f/6.3 - 300 mm - 160iso

this one is a bit sharpened and resized by flickr (so extra sharpened)

0.013 sec (1/80) - f/6.3 - 300 mm - 160iso

This is the same blackbird but a bit farther away, and a tamron 1.4tc added to the lens.
Some sharpening, but not resized only cropped.

0.006 sec (1/160) - f/7.1(x1.4) - 300 mm x1.4 = 420mm - 320iso

it is realy good lens. I have mine 3 years and it was with me in few far from home places. It is solid build so no problem during Africa safarii with a lot of dust.

i use it 90% with TC 1.4..

I wish you to have good time and good shots with this lens.

All shots from these 3 galleries are don using tis lens.

Thanks Piotr,

I was rather shure about the quality of this lens and after seeing your galleries, the rather has gone.

Even makes me more happy to have gone for this lens.

You made a good choice!

Hallo

I also got mine a month ago. I am no expert (really a beginner...), so I can not make any comment in depth concerning technical aspect of this lens but for sure I am emjoying the high / solid quality of this. I still need to take a lot more to know capability of the lens but I feel with F5.6 and up, contrast and deep color makes nice photos.

I did use x1.4 (sigma) for this sample.

Cool shot - zenzenyoyo,

don't worry about not being an expert neither am I, it was a hard choise between this and the 50-500 from sigma. The internal focussing, f4, internal zooming in the end won.

Planning to use the lens a lot the next month. Next friday I leave for Croatia (3weeks) and am planning to visit some nature reserves.
