DA40mm limited or FA43mm limited on K7

Need help deciding on wether to spend the extra $150.00 on the FA43 or just get the DA40.

Any suggestions?

Steven

ps. does anyone know who has a FA31 limited in stock?

I have the DA40. I have no experience with the 43, but I can't imagine any lens being much better than the 40.

There is a 31 for sale in the marketplace right now.

Both are great lenses.

Choose DA if you want fast AF and excellent centre to edge performance.
Choose FA if you want f/1.9 - f/2.8 usage, if you ever manual focus, and if you want the "pixie dust" of the FA limited's.

That sounds like either a very good price on the FA 43 ltd or bad price on the DA 40 ltd since BH (and Adorama) has the 40 for $339 shipped and the 43 for $569 shipped.

I have a hard time putting my 35mm or 50mm on my K7 now that I have the 43mm. It's just gives such an amazing 3D feel to my images.

Blue,
I got the prices from B&H what should I be paying for a DA40 then?
Is the FA lens at 5.6-8 not as sharp across the frame as the DA?
And yes I like to manual focus..

I get $230 difference. However, If I didn't have a DA 35mm ltd and were making the decision, I might go with the DA 40mm. Since I do, I'd go with the FA 43mm ltd. I think it will be better in the mf department as well as bigger aperture. I have been thinking a lot about selling my FA 50mm f1.4 and getting the 43mm because I like it. That is saying something because I like my FA 50mm.

I use my FA 77mm ltd on my MZ-3 af film body. I would be able to do the same with the FA 43 but probably not the DA 40mm. However, that has more to do with my bodies and the fact I like the ring on film bodies. The lens itself may cover ff given its lineage.

I've had both. I sold the 40mm. It wasn't a bad lens, actually I really enjoyed it, but it didn't compare with my 43. The only benefit I saw from the 40 was quick-shift. However that wasn't terribly convenient due to the size of the lens.

There are lots of threads with comparison pictures here, search for them if you'd like some examples.

I believe the 40 is the only DA usable on a full frame camera due to it's lineage.

Thanks everyone, I am going for the FA43 Limited to go along with the FA31 limited I just purchased a few minutes ago here on the site :-)

Well, not quite. There is a very thorough test on them in this thread.
