Not sure what I lose with the K Mount

I was looking at variou lens on ebay and found on Pentax K mount. I looked in the manual for the k-x and found:

It has in the far right column "MP" and then "K" and then under the programs:
Av(AperturePriority)AutomaticExposure with the aperture open.(Adjusting the aperture ring has no effect on the actual aperture value.)

Does that mean it will control the aperture or that I have to? Also, does that K mean K-mount while the others are Ka-Mount, Kaf-Mount, etc.? I know it won't be autofocus but would have liked aperture to be controlled.

edit: i found the answer. I tried to delete this but there is no delete. sorry.

I'm still trying to learn the various mounts myself. Since no one has responded yet though, perhaps some of these links will help.

Pentax K mount - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pentax Lens/Camera Compatibility - Mark Roberts Photography

There is a really good link that shows pics of each mount and explains them but I cannot find it now (I think I have it somewhere in my mess of hundreds of book marks). If I find it I'll post it if I can unless someone beats me to it.

I'm a noob but hopefully that will help a little.

Glad you found the answer, but since this a common point of confusion:

First, *all* lenses that you will be using a K mount. That's the generic terms for every lens intended to mount to your camera. So just because a lens says K-mount, that doens't mean there is anything at all you "lose".

But it is true that technically speaking, there are different "flavors" of K-mount: the original K, KA, KAF, KAF2, etc. See Welcome to Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax K-Mount Page for tons more info. Also see the sticky thread at the top of the beginner's forum on how to use manual lenses - this is specific there to show you how to use the original K mount lenses (no "A" or "F").
