K7 Aftermarket batteries

Just received my K7 from B&H, no problems, excellent shipping. Thanks.

I also ordered a Pearstone battery as a backup. Charged it tonight using the Pentax charger, and it appeared to be fully charged in about an hour! Is this because it already had a charge, or because it is not supposed to be charged on the Pentax equipment? Will it work properly, or does it need to be returned for the genuine article?

TIA, Carl

Hello,

The Pearstone battery may of had a charge in it. The best way to know is to power up the camera with the battery installed. If fully charged, the camera will display a full battery icon. I use may after market batteries in a variety of cameras and have never had an issue.

As a note, I have used Pearstone batteries and have found they are the most reliable, economical after-market batteries (and chargers) out there. I believe B&H is their exclusive distributor.

Thanks, Ari, that is good to know. So that leads me to ask - will the pentax charger supplied with the K7 work well with the Pearstone battery, or do I need to get a second charger(Pearstone)?

Hello,

I have never had a problem charging after market batteries in the manufacturers charger.
