DA 15mm Ltd focus binding

I just received a DA 15 Ltd from B&H (great service by the way!), and noticed that at as I manually focus the lens towards closer objects, it seems that the focus ring becomes tighter and tighter. My K-x can still drive the lens to the closest focus position though. The lens s/n is 9324528.

Is this normal? Can you pop another DA 15 Ltd out of the box and try it? You don't even need to mount it on a camera, just rotate the focus ring.

Thanks so much

This shouldn't be the case, and you can certainly exchange the lens if it is damaged. The focusing ring should move smoothly from one side to the other.

I recently bought a 35mm limited, and found that the lower ring was loose on it, and had to exchange it. Perhaps there's a defective lens once in a while...

By the way, did you follow the procedure in my signature when ordering?

Hello,

I contacted Pentax and the rep told me this is not typical for a Pentax lens and suggested exchanging it for another lens.

How to return or exchange an item:
  • To request an RMA number by phone, call Customer Service at 800-221-5743 / 212-239-7765.
  • E-Mail cs@bhphotovideo.com
