Dear B&H Photo,
This May I've bought PENTAX 16-50/2.8 SDM lens in B&H Photo, NYC.

I've noticed that it doesn't autofocuses correctly. There's about one
shot out of three with the focus right in place. It depends on the
distance to the object but focus may shift a lot. It sure feels like
a wrong behavior.

I have K10D and ist*D and tested the lens on K7 and Kx,
the situation is the same. I have lots of other Pentax lenses and no
have such issue including SDM 50-135mm.

The difficulty is I'm situated in Russia and Pentax Worldwide warranty
is not working here.
Is it possible to send the lens to B&H Photo, US services or
any other Pentax customer care to replace or fix it?
If yes is it mandatory
to have the receipt or they may check by S/N as I've no receipt left?

Hello,

From a previous posting about this lens, Pentax said that only they can determine if a lens is malfunctioning of not. I am sorry, but B&H cannot apply for service for you in the US on your behalf. You would need to have Pentax service the lens locally.

Local Pentax service will be for money. As Pentax worldwide warranty is not applies in Russia.

OK, it's clear for me about B&H.

But do you know if I can send the lens to any US Pentax service centers and apply for Worldwide warranty? And if they would be able to send it back after?

Only Pentax USA can answer this, but in my experience US service centers will not accept an item for repair from an international address.
