Problems with K-X purchased from B&H to Canada

A strange thing happened to my KX today, went for walk and shot few pictures, all of them completely dark with a purple tint, no error messages, batteries charged.
Came home, tried the LiveView and sure enough, dark purple display. After several seconds the display started flickering all kinds of colors after that it settled to normal.
Shot few pics, all OK. Turned the camera off for a bit, turned it on again in LV and purple display again. Five seconds later display changed to normal again. It seems doing the same thing when the camera is off for few minutes.
Any ideas except to sending it for repair?

Now, the camera is only few month old, but I did not get the international warranty card from B&H. Pentax Canada is telling me that without the card they will not do the warranty repair. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Luma, first you will need to send a letter (have not tried fax) to Pentax Imaging in Colorado to request for International warranty paper with official stamp. You will need the copy of the original commercial invoice, copy of the camera serial number along with the letter.

Pentax Canada is looking for that Internation warranty paper in order to work on your camera. My past experience with Pentax support in Canada is great.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your camera not working.

I found this on Pentax's web site.

Warranty and Repairs - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

International Warranty Card
New PENTAX products do not automatically come with an international warranty that covers all PENTAX products around the world. However, it is possible to obtain an International Warranty Card through PENTAX Imaging Company after you have purchased a PENTAX product. If you bought your PENTAX product in the United States and are traveling to a foreign country for an extended period of time, we can send you an International Warranty Card to cover your product while you are abroad. We will also send you a list of authorized service centers around the world.

To obtain an International Warranty Card, please send the below-listed items to PENTAX Imaging Company, 600 12th Street, Suite 300, Golden, CO 80401:
A copy of your dated proof of purchase, with the name and address of the U.S. dealer.
The serial number on your PENTAX product (if it has one).

If you bought your PENTAX product in another country, and you are planning to visit the United States, we can send you an International Warranty Card to cover your product while you are within the United States. You will need to send us the following items:
A copy of your dated proof of purchase.
The serial number on your PENTAX product (if it has one).
We will fill out an International Warranty Card and mail it to you. The time period and product coverage provided by the International Warranty Card is the same as the standard PENTAX Limited Warranty (as specified above).

Actually, I was able to email Pentax USA the scanned bill of sale and serial number, that was all they needed. The email address I was given is Joe.Virgil@pentax.com and he emailed me back confirming they sent the International Warranty card.

Now I am curious if I will have to pay the $50 handling fee to Pentax Canada for out of country purchased product.

How much have you really saved by shopping the gray market for your camera?
