Policy on K5 sensors?

Does B & H have a policy regarding the issue with non user treatable stains on some K5 sensors?

Does your in-house tech staff get them off when brought back to you, or are you exchanging them? Or are they being sent to another Pentax location for this?

Any chance that someone getting their K5 from you might be able to have it inspected for this first before purchase?

Thanks.

Hello,

We do not do any repair work. Items returned to us as defective go back to the manufacturer. Items requiring in warranty servicing are to be sent directly to an authorized service center.

I am sorry, we do not inspect items prior to shipping.

I asked the same question to B&H, I even asked if I open the box in front of them in the shop and find the stains...?, they would not replace the camera but would ship it back to Pentax. I probably will go for a K-r or stick to my K100D. Pentax has not answered my mails either (quite coward reactions towards loyal customers)

Amazing. You really couldn't walk into B&H, buy a camera and then return it for a refund or replacement if it's defective?
Shocking that they would treat a customer that way.
Henry and Chuck surely must be hanging their heads in shame right now.
Pentax, I am sure, is dealing with this the way businesses deal with things, which is to honour their warranty, recall what's in the supply chain and replace them with cameras that have been QC'd.

Why is there this ongoing lunacy that Pentax somehow wouldn't be taking this fairly seriously?

If you're making a purchase in our store, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to open the box of the item you're buying. But our warehouse people don't open boxes to inspect contents before shipping for a couple of reasons, including:
- Most customers prefer to receive new unopened merchandise.
- It would be prohibitively time consuming and expensive.
- Our warehouse staffers know one box from another but have no formal training in the contents of any and are not at all equipped to do a pre-shipping inspection.

Our return policy is online. With certain well-defined limitations it's pretty elastic. Buy a camera Monday and come back a week from Tuesday to swap it for another or return for a refund.

How do you get away with saying things like that?

I only needed to mention "return policy" in my posts and got them deleted in return for infractions.

Perhaps the mods saw my post for what it was, which was an attempt to inject some levity into the absurdity of the premise of the post in question.
I dunno.
