Ordering from Canada... warranty on lenses?

I'm interested in buying a Sigma 50mm macro.
Will the warranty be US or can I get a Canadian one?
I'm not sure exactly how it works.
What happens if there's a problem with the lens?

Hello,

No question is beyond this forum. Please feel free to post what ever you need to know at any time.

The Sigma lens comes with a 1-Year Worldwide Warranty + 3-Year Extended USA Warranty.

For product sold out side the United States, please check with the manufacturer locally, to see if they will honor the USA warranty. This is entirely up to the discretion of the manufacture in question and out of the control of B&H.

All "USA" warranted items may be repaired in any manufacturer's authorized service facility world-wide if the item required in-warranty service. B&H can not stamp warranty cards as "international" nor offer a world wide option.

The "Direct Import" or Grey Market item would have to be returned to B&H Photo-Video Corp. in New York City if it required in-warranty attention.

B&H now offers SageMax Protection Plans which will cover qualifying products worldwide. An items corresponding plan will be listed on its product page on our site.

The SageMax Protection Plans main advantage over extending the manufacturers warranty is coverage for ADH or (Accidental Damage and Handling), normal wear & tear and failure due to environmental factors.

So basically if I order the lens and it comes with a US warranty I'll be covered in Canada for one year, and service can be done here in Canada?
Or are you saying I'd have to contact Sigma and ask them?

I will look into the SageMax plan too, though I normally don't bother with extras like that...

Thanks for the reply.

A Sigma lens purchased new from B&H will have a USA warranty.

Sigma USA provides us with the warranty info I gave you. I recommend you double check with Sigma in Canada to be sure as we have no way of knowing how manufacturers in different countries handle such cases. It varies too widely for us to keep track.
