I have a grandson with a pentax istd we want to buy him a flash we will pay up to $110.00 australian I am trying to encourage him to go further with his photography can you recomend a good quality flash for this camera thanks .

You may want to look for a manual flash locally rather than through B&H. A manual flash can be found on eBay or even a pawn shop - doesn't need to be Pentax dedicated, but it does need to be trigger voltage safe (<10V is a conservative figure to go by).

The *ist D is also TTL compatible, so if you're lucky enough to find a Pentax dedicated TTL flash within your price range, this will make auto flash function significantly easier.
