Vivitar 1.4x Teleconverter

I m consider the 1.4x teleconverter (Pentax K mount) for use with DA*55 and FA50/f1.4. Will autofocus work with this unit? If used with manual A-lenses, will it still work with Av mode? Any chance that meta data calculate to the correct focal llength for use with Pentax's SR?

Thanks.

If you're talking about this one, then yes to the first two and no to the third question. (only non-SDM AF will work, however).

There's no point in using a teleconverter with a 50mm, however- you're better off just cropping your photos.

Thanks Adam,

Is there any limitation when using with large aperture lenses like 85/f1.4, like the size of the rear element of the TC vs the lens.

and which teleconverter can be best used with SDM lenses, ie DA*50-135 or DA*200?

Best regards

Hello,

Limitations are hard to say as they will vary from lens and teleconverter combination's. For me, the lose in image quality was enough to not use them. The best method is to use lenses that have converters made or recommended for them. None ( currently available ) that I am aware of are supported.

This teleconverter from Sigma allows for full AF with the 50-135: Sigma APO Teleconverter 1.4x EX DG for Pentax AF 824109 B&H

For more details see this thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/126087-sigma-1...lly-tried.html

However, as Chuck said, it's not designed for any particular lens and might adversely affect image quality.

Thanks. I won't spend time to consider them.

I recently purchased (from B&H) the Pentax DA* 300mm f4. I love the lens but am still interested in extending the range a bit. I have a Kenko 2X MC7 telextender which does not work at all but was wondering if a 1.4x (or1.5x) might work. Does anyone know if the Vivitar 1.4X will work on this lens?

From the photo shown the vivitar lacks the contacts of the KAF2 mount to provide power to the HSM motor.

looks like manual focus only on HSM lenses.

ALso, someone else noted the Sigma 1.4x TC, there are 2 issues with this TC, first, it also does not support HSM and second, there is very limited compatibility of siogma TCs to lenses due to the protruding front element, It is really meant only for very long and fast tele lenses and a couple of fast tele zooms. it will not mount to the DA300
