Color Calibration

Hi, I have a Dell Studio laptop. What do you think of the Spyder3Express as compared to the HueyPro which is a little more. Over all for that price range, are they sufficient? I am not a pro, but have had photos printed, and been disappointed with the inconsistent results from the commercial lab, usually too dark.
Thank you.

I would wager either tool is far superior to the laptop LCD screen. You don't need either tool just to lower the brightness so your prints better match. Its a very common problem (dark prints due to the joy of ultra bright LCD).

FWIW - I use a Spyder3Pro but only for the desktop monitors.

You may also want to look at the i1 display device. It is smaller than the Spyder and can be used on multiple monitors (the device becomes the license key).

For a bit more money, check out the ColorMunki from X-Rite. It does monitors, printers, projectors and is about the size of a large tape measure. And it also does spot color measurements if you need that!

Regards,
