Unidentified lens hood

Hi all,
I purchased a Pentax Lens hood PH-RBD 58mm which allegedly would fit my FA 28-90mm lens. It does not in fact fit on to the bayonet of either this lens, or my FA-J 28-80mm lens.
Can you please tell me which lens it was actually meant to fit?
thank you
Ray(Scotland)

The Pentax PH-RBD 49mm Lens Hood is for use with Pentax 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR lens.

Look forward to your expert advice.

Hello,

I Google searched "Pentax PH-RBD 58mm" and also found many 50-200 hits. So I E-Mailed Pentax and here is their response, sorry for the delay;

" This hood (PH-RBD 58) is most likely for the silver SMCP-FA 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Zoom. The SMCP-FA J 28-80mm f3/5-5.6 AL Zoom lens uses the PH-RBE 58 lens hood (prod. 38735). The SMCP-FA 28-90mm f3.5-5.6 Zoom lens and the SMCP-FA 28-80 f3.5-5.6 Zoom use the RH-RC 58 rubber lens hood (prod. 34793)."

Yup, that looks correct except for the first part. AFAIK, the FA 28-90mm F3.5-5.6 doesn't have a dedicated hood, so you'll want to get a 58mm rubber hood instead. If you want a Pentax hood, try looking for a RH-RC58. If that's not available, then a generic hood should work just as well. B+W 58mm Screw-In Folding Rubber Lens Hood #900 65-069607 B&H

I can confirm that the FAJ 28-80mm uses the PH-RBE 58mm.

I don't think a PH-RBD 58mm exists, but the PH-RBD 49mm is designed for the 50-200mm lens.

Pentax PH-RBD 58mm lens hood

Thank you all for your kind responses to my enquiry.
It is good to know that there are so many other Pentax fans out there in the darkness, all willing to help each other.
Regarding this hood not existing, this would imply that the one I am presently holding in my hand could be a fake?
If you wish I could send an image of it showing the inscribed ID number?
I don't have an FA-28-80mm to try it on, but know someone who probably does, so I will eventually report back on the outcome.
Now to find the rubber hood .............
regards
ET
