Tablet PC's for field use

Hi,
I am pretty new here but I am happy to find the land of the Pentax lovers! I am currently looking into the new and ever changing market of tablets. I know for sure that I do not want to go with an Android tablet as I want to do more than play angry birds. What I cannot find in my search is if any of the Windows based tabs would allow me to use it as a touch screen laptop and most of all, use as a photo viewer and light editor. I know they cannot replace my editing desktop but can anyone shed some light on the tablet market and if they are worth anything to a digital photographer yet?
