Defective software CD?

I received a new 25" iMac with OS 10.7 installed from B&H yesterday. I installed Spyder3 Express and calibrated the monitor. Later I tried to install an upgrade of PS CS5. I could here the SuperDrive give a muted click a couple of times like it was spinning up the disc but nothing else happened. I expected to see a screen appear with further instructions on continuing with the upgrade but the screen stayed blank. The upgrade is for Mac OS. I've re-tried 3 or 4 times with the same result even leaving the disc in for a couple of minutes. Is it possible that the disc is defective? All of these products were purchased from B&H. What is the B&H policy on returning or exchanging software?

Hello,

Our policy is once Computers, Software and Hardware are opened, they cannot be returned or exchanged. You would have to contact the manufacture for assistance. Adobe may have a downloadable version that you can install. Have you tried installing other disc's ? Just wondering if the disk drive in your computer is working 100%.

Try accessing the disc via the filesystem. I doubt that it's defective, but it's possible.
