lens hood cover

is there a lens hood cover or some kind of push-on or snap in cover that would fit over the lens hood end of the d-fa 100 f2.8 macro wr ? rather than having to take the hood off all the time, or reach in ( which is near impossible ) to put on and take off the supplied lens end cover. thanks

never mind, made my own from a sink stopper, thanks anyway

found this at home depot, a garbage disposal sink stopper, fits perfectly on the end of the lens hood for the dfa 100 wr. don't know why there is nothing available for this, why don't they make caps for the lens hoods that are supplied with lenses? this will work , albeit a little funky.

oh, well of course those you have would be tons better than this contraption, can you tell me which size to get for this particular lens hood, chuck ? the outside diameter of the hood for the 100 mm WR is about 74.45 mm, or 2.9 inches unless you have a lens cap that would fit the 74.45 mm size of the hood? a 72 mm cap is too small , though the inside diameter is just about 68 mm. anything that would fit that would look like a more normal lens cap? thanks

Hello,

We have these push on caps which I do not think are ideal.

The Kaiser 75mm Plastic Lens Cap is a push-on style cap. It is designed to fit any camera or enlarger lens, binocular, tele-, micro-, or spotting scope lens. To use one, measure the outside diameter of your lens barrel. Order the cap size that is 1 or 2 millimeters larger than the size measured. The cap should fit snuggly but not so tight that it is hard to remove.

Kaiser 74mm Plastic Lens Cap

The OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Mini is designed to fit a lens and shade with a diameter from approximately 3.0-3.5". Simply placing the Hood Hat onto the front of the hood while in place will provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lens cap. The neoprene material will adjust to fit both round and elliptical "petal-type" shades.

The LensCoat X-Small Hoodie Lens Hood Cover is a neoprene hood cover that fits easily and snugly around your lens hood in either the shooting position or reversed. This can help to protect the front element of your lens from dirt, dust, moisture and impact. The Hoodie features a reinforced removable front element protection disc made from rigid plastic and firm foam to further protect your lens from damage.
