Is this a genuine Pentax OEM adapter?

Pentax Mount Adapter K 30120 B&H Photo Video

Why is shipping to Canada so costly?

SubTotal: $24.95
Customs Clearance : Pay On Delivery
Shipping: $31.25 International Priority Mail (No Tracking Avail.)

I just got a set of M42 extension tubes from MD. Postage was $2.50 and they are much larger and heavier then an M42 adapter.

Yup that's the original Pentax one. We'll have to wait to hear from Chuck about the shipping.

Thanks Adam!

I've spoken to a number of Canadians who would like to buy from B&H but the high shipping costs prevent us from doing so.

I am sorry but many things affect an item’s Shipping and Handling fees. Our shipping rates are based on weight, insurance (value) destination and packaging. All shipments comply with US customs regulations, which include a valid, accurate, full detailed commercial invoice & proper export documentation.

We appreciate your concerns and feedback. Right now our options for internat'l shipping seem to be cheap or reliable. We opt for reliable. That means speedy service, accurate and up-to-the-minute online package tracking and responsiveness from the shipper should a parcel be mislaid or arrive damaged.

We're not willing to distinguish among small and lightweight but valuable items and those which are more easily replaceable. I realize your order maybe small, but B&H is unwilling to gamble. Regrettably, tossing your merchandise into a padded "Jiffy" bag with a few stamps is unacceptable by our standards.

All products are shipped in its original OEM "original equipment manufacturer" packaging. B&H re-boxes your merchandise into larger, padded, nondescript (our logo is on the packing tape) shipping cartons.

I noticed in your question, you did not mention our Purolator Ground option which we began offering about a year ago. This service requires that you prepay all necessary VAT and HST / PST / GST fees at checkout, but doing so allows Purolator to expedite your package at a more affordable rate.

I calculated shipping the Pentax Mount Adapter K to CANADA / Ontario

Purolator Ground 2-6 days delivery > $8.22
Duties + Tax > $4.90

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for your reply. I did not mention the Purolator option because I assume they do not deliver to a P. O. Box. I know that UPS and Fedex did not the last time I checked. If Purolator services this area it's news to me, I know that UPS & Fedex do not. Regardless I will not ship anything with either UPS of Fedex as I've had outrageously bad experiences with both. I'll spare you the details, I am willing to get into that if anyone is interested. USPS shipments arrive at my local post office, I pay whatever charges assessed and $5 for brokerage. Works great for me.

I do not understand part of your response. The product has to be packed for shipping regardless of who the carrier is. I expect this cost to be the same regardless of who the carrier is. I don't mind paying for that and your covering it in the 8.22 shipping charge. I can't see where the extra 23ish dollar cost is incurred to ship via USPS.

Many of the small dollar, but essential accessories, at hard to source. B&H has them, we need them.

Many Canadian photographers have told me they would like to shop at B&H but do not because of higher then average shipping costs.

I appreciate the fact that B&H is free to decide whatever they please. I also think, base on your reputation as a quality supplier, that the vast majority of decisions are sound. Perhaps this one needs review.

Hi Chuck,

I tried to buy one of those adapters with a P.O. Box address in Canada and our web site told me this:
Orders to a P.O. Box can only be shipped via U.S. Mail or Super Saver. If you would like to have your order shipped via UPS or FedEx, please change your ship-to address.
So, back to your earlier question. Our options for internat'l shipping, Purolator excepted, seem to be cheap or reliable. By reliable I mean they do what they say and when, their online package tracking is at least somewhat reliable, they're at least somewhat responsive if a package is lost or the contents damaged en route, and so on. It'd be ideal to be able to offer reliable inexpensive internat'l shipping to all addresses, including P.O. Boxes and we're very glad we were able to implement Purolator for most Canadian customers.

As long as we have to choose though, we will opt for reliable every time.
