RS234 (non RC) camera mount thread size

On the RS234, the camera mount knob is shown with 1/4 and 3/8 screw thread. The 1/4 thread is pointing to the camera, is this reversible to the 3/8 thread? Any special tools required to reverse? I thinking of attach an Arca Swiss style release plate over it.

Hello;

The bottom threads are not 3/8's but are what the wing nut uses to hold what is attached. The Manfrotto 234 Swivel Tilt Monopod Head is a 1/4-20" camera screw size only. 3/8"-16 (with 1/4"-20 adapter.

The Sunwayfoto DDY-64 Disc Clamp is a circular Arca-style clamp that fits to just about any 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20 threaded screw (a 1/4"-20 adapter bushing is included to convert the 3/8"-16 thread). An integrated bubble level allows you to ensure that your camera's position hews to the horizon.

The Kirk QRC-1.75 Quick Release Clamp is a 1.75" long clamp (1/4"-20 Tripod Mount Thread) that is compatible with all Arca Swiss-type plates and mounts. The clamp is made of lightweight aluminum and stainless steel construction, to provide long-lasting dependability.

Thank you Chuck. I happen to have several Photoclam clamps with 3/8 threads already, and I'm hoping not to buy more of them. Would the conversion screw be tall enough when used over the RS 234?

Hello,

Sorry, that you'd have to test. I have found bushings to be hit or miss personally.

Problem solved - with help from B&H staffer - using 3/8 to 1/4 conversion screw to mate photoclam clamp directly on top of my existing RS234RC plate. Very pleased.
