About Pentax TR Power Pack

I just purchased a TR Power Pack - 3 from you folks but when I hook it up to my AF540 flash, it doesn't power it up. With the 4 AA batteries it works fine by the way. Is there something I'm missing here? Any help would be appreciated.

thank you

There are certain electronic functions inside the flash that require the AA batteries to operate. The TR Power Pack will power the flash bursts alone. This is more than likely the issue as many flash battery packs require AA's installed in the flash to work.

Second the motion on Chuck's explanation.

I have owned/used both the AF540 and the power pack. The flash requires internal batteries in order for the functions on the flash to be set correctly before the power pack is used.
