STUD weight load of Manfrotto Super Clamp

Has anyone ever tested the weight load of the STUD mounted sideways into a 3/8" wall mount??? I need to place something like the weight equivalent of a jug of milk on top of the Super Clamp mounted sideways. I am using the jaws of the Super Clamp for something else that is very light, so the weight load of the jaws is NOT the question. Picture it please - the threads of the stud go HORIZONTAL into a 3/8" hole in a metal frame and then this 5 lb. weight goes ON TOP of the Super Clamp unattached and loose. Does the stud inside the Super Clamp have its own weight load rating??? In a horizontal position, when does the male stud threads start bending/breaking??? Is the stud made out of aluminum or brass or steel and which is strongest??? Thanks for any help.

Hello,

I sent an E-mail to our Manfrotto Rep. Here are his comments:

"The stud is brass which is stronger than aluminum. The brass Stud should hold a 5lb load. We do not have a specific load rating for the stud or the threads."

Chuck,
Thanks for reaching out to Manfrotto with my question. I went ahead and ordered from B&H the stud I need and will find out in a few days if it works the way I think it will.
