sandisk cards...can you explain the differences

i have to say the card type is very confusing...i have read that the pentax k5 doesn't need more than the 30mb because it can't go any faster but then someone else says get the 45...i have also read don't get the hd video and then other ones say get it....so i have 1 card that is the extreme 30mb hd and the other is extreme 45mb ...i just checked sandisk and they say i should get SDSDRX3-032G-A21...can you help to explain the difference..thanks

Hello,

Memory cards have 2 major distinctions: storage size and data transfer speed. Digital still cameras do not write image file data to a memory card directly. The file is first written to the cameras internal buffer memory. This is why a cameras burst rate is not dependent on a particular type of memory card. Faster cards are needed for recording video as the large files must be written to the card directly. Fast cards will benefit you in that they will allow the buffer memory to clear out quicker and will improve upload times when transferring files to a computer.
