pentax K30 compatable

to mr B&H photo.... first off let me thank you for making all this possible... what a fantastic thing to do, this site is awsome!!!!
I am having a problem with clarity and hopefully you can shed some light,, I just recently purchased a Pentax K30 [body only] I reused all my old lenses and other gear except it will not take a TTL flash and I can not afford the 540 flash that matches the camera.. So I have been searching for an aftermarket new or used Flash that can do the same as the 540 but more affordable [ I am a disabled american veteran living on a govt allowance] as it is I will have to sell or trade my old equiptment a PZ-70 and its Flash an AF400FTZ both in really nice condition to get the funds for the replacement PTTL flash . I have searched high and low and found a few but always end up with the same "compatability with the K30 unconfirmed" I was hoping you can shed some light on this issue and maybe give a list of flashes that are proven to be compatable and do the same job as the 540,
If you sell them I will concider used or new and could trade my used as well,, so long as the Flash is compatable and can do the same as the unaffordable pentax 540. Being a disabled veteran isnt all that profitable of a profession.... but I need a good flash can you help??

Hello;

Most current dedicated flashes should work with the K-30. I say should because my experience with 2nd party flashes is they work but it is never quite as smoothly as with a manufacturers model. The issue is the compatibility of the software used for the 2 items to "talk" to each other. Keep in mind using legacy lenses can add variables that no one can say what will happen until you try it. My experience has been Sigma brand flashes worked as advertised.

This EF610 DG Super Flash for Pentax DSLR Cameras is Sigma's most powerful shoe-mount flash yet, with a guide number of 200' (61m) at ISO 100 with the zoom head set to 105mm, and advanced features designed to work with the latest TTL auto exposure systems of Pentax DSLRs.

The EF610's autozoom function automatically sets the optimum illumination angle for the focal length in use, in a range from 24mm to 105mm. When the built-in Wide Panel is used, the flash can cover an angle of 17mm. The EF610 will tilt up 90, to the left 180, to the right 180 and down 7 for optimal control.

We have just began handling Bolt brand flashes and have had the time to do some in house testing with Canon and Nikon models and have found them to work flawlessly.

The VS-510P Wireless TTL Shoe Mount Flash from Bolt is a dedicated flash for use with Pentax & Samsung DSLR, mirrorless or point-and-shoot cameras. The VS-510 features a guide number of 141' at ISO 100 and an adjustable tilt head with five positions: 0 to 90. You can also twist it to the left up to 120 and to the right up to 180. It covers a 24-105mm range (in 35mm full frame format) and also offers rear curtain synchronization for shooting at slower shutter speeds. The included stand allows you to set the flash up on a flat surface, or to attach it to a tripod head, light stand, or clamp that has a standard 1/4"-20 mount.
