Mail in Rebate

I'm going to buy the printer. I saw the Canon printer which has $300 rebate from $400. I couldn't believe that they sell $400 printer in $200. Is it scam? How come they get only $100?? Isn't it loss of money? Do they really send $300 back??

Like an SLR camera body, a printer is not a final purchase. Like dedicated lens mounts and flashes, printers use proprietary consumables such as ink and paper. Canon is giving you a very good incentive to use their printers over someone else. Canon USA honors their rebate promotions.
