There was some discussion in 2012 that the SDM motors had been improved on new Pentax DA* lenses. I also sent a DA*16-50 into CRIS in June for repair and they told me the same thing. However, I decided to sell that lens after it was repaired. At the holiday B&H pricing, I decided to give that lens another try as it should in my opinion have an updated SDM motor. I along with several others were surprised to find that the lenses we are getting correspongd with serial numbers from 2011 purchases when comparing numbers with this forum's serial number data base. This
thread shows that there are several concerned buyers.
Is there any way of knowing if B&H has newer inventory that could be switched out? It is unsettling to spend even $850 on a lens with such a high failure rate.
thanks
