Ok, just about to order a K-3 with the Pentax 2-Year Extended Warranty and the website tells me it's backordered, how does that happened... out of the paper cards?

Yes. Fortunately, as long as you place your order for the warranty within 30 days of your camera purchase, it will remain valid even if it isn't shipped to you until later. So, if you order the two on the same day, you'll be good to go.
