Extended K-3 Warranty

A lot of us bought the extended K-3 warranty from B&H even though our K-3 wasn't purchased from them. We were reassured by Adam that all we needed was for the warranty to be purchased within 30 days of the K-3 purchase. Now, on another thread, you say it depends on Pentax's conditions. Which is correct?

What Chuck was referring to is the window for purchasing the extended warranty. Even though B&H has an extended holiday return policy, there is no extension to the standard 30-day window (from the date of the original purchase) for acquiring the extended warranty, I believe.

Well, the link Chuck sent is simply the Pentax product registration page. He used that to answer the question in a way that made me wonder - there's no information whatsoever on the page relating to extended warranty information. Was there something I missed?

I apologize for the confusion.

The question asked was: "It was purchased online from an authorized dealer. I have the confirmation email with the order number and item description and price paid. It's not in my name obviously, but is this enough to purchase and validate the 2 year extended warranty from B&H?"

The answer is B&H does not validate nor set the guidelines for Warranty/Extended Warranty validation. This is entirely up to RICOH IMAGING Americas Corporation and would begin buy getting the camera purchased registered first as this would be the first requirement for extending the OEM warranty. We have no requirements that prohibit the purchase of the 2-Year Extended Warranty from Pentax.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

For anyone interested, here's the link for the extended warranty info. Apparently it's available up to two months after purchase.
