Return or Warranty?

Hi,

I purchased a Pentax 540FGZII on 11-22. I used it (more than tests) for the first time last night and the grooves on the Fresnel, along a stretch in the center, started melting and the flash smelled of melting plastic during use. Should I return the flash and exchange it for an identical unit or pursue this as a warranty issue?

Hello,

You are within your return period so you can return it for another. Did you use an external battery pack as this can cause this type of damage which would not be covered ?

Hi, Chuck,

I'll call customer service to initiate a return. I was using four AA batteries at the time.
