Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch

Hi,

I have been using the "Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch for Select Cameras with 2.5mm Sub-Mini Connections B&H # VERSC1II MFR # RS-C1II" occasionally since I purchased it in February of 2016 (02/04/2016). Ever since I have had it, it seems to work intermittently, sometimes not even reacting to the button press to activate the shutter on my K-3II. It seems the connection is not continuous and that it is faulty. It is listed as being compatible with the Pentax K series and the 2.5 sub mini connection as my K-3II has, but seems to not function as advertised with the K-3II in Bulb or Manual mode consistently. I would appreciate it if you could possibly give me a suggestion on what I can do, since this product has obviously had inconsistent reliability. Sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to work, which leads me to suspect the connector is not making full contact at all times. I know the purchase is past the year warranty, but it has only seen light use and I did not damage or abuse the product. Please let me know if you have a suggestion. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you,

Casey

Update: I ended up receiving a post from a fellow Pentax Forums member telling me what the reason might be that my Vello Wired Remote was not performing as it should. I was told that the plug was not completely seating itself in the socket of my K-3II due to the base of the plug needing to have part of the plastic base of the plug taken off. That way the plug would sit deeper in the socket. I filed down the plastic at the base of the plug and it works fine now. So, I do not need your assistance, but would like you to know this symptom about this product and how it was remedied.

You don't have to reply to this message, but please feel free to if you would like.

Thanks again,

Casey

Hello;

Thanks for the feedback. After being closed I forwarded your comments to our Vello rep and he is researching this with the factory. Matt [our rep] also sends his appreciation for your comments.

Hi Chuck,

Thank you so much for taking this into account. I felt disappointed that I was not able to depend on the switch during shooting. I thought if I let you know, that way you could do exactly what you did (let manufacturing know). I really was truthful in what I said. Please let Matt know that I appreciate his giving attention to this matter also.

Kind Regards,

Casey
