Originally posted by volosong Was excited about the sales price for the 645 FA* 300/4 and ordered one. Since I use protective filters on ALL of my lenses, I order the filter size that the web site recommends. On both the "Recommended Accessories" section as well as on the SPECS section, it shows a 67mm filter size.
Ordered the lens and a Heliopan filter. The filter was delivered the other day, but since I wasn't home at the time of delivery, the FedEx driver has to come back for me to sign for the lens itself. Just received delivery and excitedly opened the box. What a beautiful lens! First thing I did was quickly remove the cap to screw on the filter. Oops! Way too small.
Looking inside the cap, I see that is is 77mm size. The lens page on this very forum also shows a 77mm filter size. The B&H website is incorrect! I guess it's my goof for not checking first.
(Thankfully, I can use the 67mm filter on another lens and won't have to return it. I'll now have to go and order the correct size.)
Wow that was some saving !!!
It looks like they have mixed up some of the specs between the 645 FA* 300/4 and the 645 FA 300/5.6. The latter does have a 67mm filter diameter. The weight/optics/min focus/dimensions are all from the non-star lens too.
They have also forgotten to include the * in the name of the lens on the advert, but for that price I would forgive them anything.
