Pentax K-70 - confirm "white" solenoid

I have the failed aperture issue in a K50 associated with the "green" solenoid. Per a forum post, it appears that all K70's manufactured after Jan 1, 2021 have the Japanese made "white" solenoid. Can you confirm your current inventory of K70's have the "white" solenoid? I am specifically interested in the one on sale:

Additionally, is there any difference, other than the exterior cosmetic of black/silver model versus the "all black" model in the K70's? The all black k70 is on sale for $527 but the black/silver is $477. I would prefer the all black but at that price difference my preference evaporates provided the cameras are otherwise identical. Can you confirm the "only" difference between the two K70's is the cosmetic exterior appearance? Is the all black mdoel also manufactured with the "white" solenoid?

Thank you,
Jim

I don't know if it was the "wrong" forum, but I suspect you will get better answers in this one, especially regarding the solenoid.

Hello;

I checked and our current inventory was delivered to us this year, unfortunately we have no way of knowing a date of manufacture or assembly to confirm, I am sorry about that.

The black and silver bodies are identical and have a base retail price of $646.95 ea. Presently the silver has a more aggress manufacture sponsored instant rebate ($170.00 vs $120.00) which in most cases reflects on hand inventory. Just speculating but Ricoh may have an excess of silver body inventory and looking to move them.

Hope this helps;

Chuck

Hi Jim

No new K-70 cameras are made with a "white" (made in Japan) solenoid, as that solenoid supply has been exhausted years ago.
Having said that, new K-70 cameras have a much better quality green solenoid than the solenoids used in the K-30, K-50 and early K-70 cameras.
